One of the things I wanted to do for my Gold Award was to make conservation fun, make it something people want to do instead of thinking of it as a chore. These activities, some of which are included in the class and some that are not, will help you to live more sustainably at home. By giving new life to materials you can find around the house, you will drastically reduce waste. And, with these projects, you can have so much fun.
UPCYCLED WIND CHIMES
Upcycled wind chimes can be made from practically anything. All you need is a base to hang the wind chimes from, some string for wire, and objects to hang. Find items from your home that might be considered boring or trash. Make it a treasure hunt, and turn the items into something beautiful. A chipped flower pot, a rusted strainer, or a stick from outside make wonderful bases. Painted bottle caps or old keys make for beautiful chimes. Get creative!

MAKE A REUSABLE BAG FROM A T-SHIRT
This upcycling project takes care of two of the three Rs: reduce and reuse. By reusing your t-shirts, you reduce your plastic consumption. The link below outlines various ways you can re-purpose an old t-shirt into a reusable bag. I am sure you will find a way that works for you! |
I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
